With a big impact on a house originally built in the early 1900s, small spaces were opened into one larger kitchen/dining/sunroom(office). Our clients needed to modernize their kitchen and, in the process, create a space where they can now host dinners. Given that the total square feet on the first floor is less than 900, every inch was sacred. While it isn’t always easy to bring an older house up to date mechanically or aesthetically, sometimes the two can help each other. We uncovered the original brick flue when the walls came down, and it has become a striking architectural element tying the old world into the new.
